3D platformers may be coming back in style, if anticipation for Yooka-Laylee is anything to go by, and Drakhar Studios wants to join in with their own game called Ginger: Beyond the Crystal. Today, Badland Games launched the digital version of the game in advance of the retail version.
The protagonist Ginger has to jump and fight across 30 different stages, set in three different realms, in order to find and purify corrupted crystals that destroyed his world. This adventure platformer game lies on the classic mechanics of the genre, but Drakhar Studios has tried to find some meaning for collectibles by adding some sim mechanics to it, as the player has to gather resources to rebuild houses and other buildings.
Ginger: Beyond the Crystal is available for download on PC, PS4 and Xbox One around the world starting October 25, and there will be a retail release only for PlayStation 4 in Europe and Australia on October 28. Do you think 3D platformers are back in style?
