The Game Awards had a lot of surprises up its sleeve, and we've collected 19 trailers shown at the event. We take a look at each trailer, giving you a short rundown of what happens and what to expect.

World War Z
Based on 2013's popular post-apocalyptic thriller (in turn based on the novel), the trailer for World War Z gave a look into what is in store for the game. Expect countless hordes of zombies to head your way in this four-player co-op survival game. Zombies and co-op does sound familiar, doesn't it?

Vacation Simulator
Another title to join Owlchemy Labs' virtual reality list is Vacation Simulator. The game looks to be set on a resort-like island, with the activities being that of a holiday; catching fish, eating hot dogs and playing on the beach. All that and no need for sun lotion!

New From Software Title
This trailer didn't give too much away, but showed some sort of contraption made of bone and the words "Shadows die twice." Your guess is as good as ours, but you can be sure From Software have something pretty incredible up their sleeves, possibly something born out of blood?

Soul Calibur VI
It's been a long time since the last SoulCalibur title, nearly six years to be specific, with the last title being on the Xbox 360 and PS3. SoulCalibur is finally back, and the trailer shows in-game footage of a fight featuring Sophitia, as well as a brief glimpse at a mystery character. We're eager to enter the stage of history once more...

Fade to Silence
THQ Nordic and Black Forest Games (Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams) announced a new title called Fade to Silence, which is set in a frozen world plagued by dark creatures. The game launches December 14th for Steam Early Access and is a fight to survive a cold unrelenting winter and the monsters that come with it. A big departure for the studio, but it sure looks interesting.

Fortnite
The most recent title to give PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds a run for its money is Fortnite, which showed off its 50v50 game mode. Both teams have to work together to build a base and defeat the enemy team in a large-scale team deathmatch. The game mode is a limited time event, so make sure to get playing whilst you can.

HQ

Bayonetta 3
...the big reveal. For those excited to see the first two Bayonetta titles on the Switch, what comes next will have your heart racing, as Bayonetta 3 released an in-development teaser. Being just a tiny bit more revealing than last summer's Metroid Prime 4 teaser, at least we know Bayonetta is coming back and that's she'll be kicking up her heels exclusively on Nintendo Switch.

Death Stranding
Prepare to be confused again by Hideo Kojima in this new trailer for Death Stranding. This time, Norman Reedus and his team encounter some type of invisible beast and are killed for their efforts. All except for Norman Reedus's character, of course, who seems to have accidentally swallowed a baby. Your guess is as good as ours as to what it all means.

HQ

Witchfire
From the creators of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter comes a trailer for a Dark Souls-esque game, but with guns. A dark world is shown filled with all kinds of nasty looking demons trying to kill you, with a plethora of special abilities for the protagonist. We're intrigued and it looks gorgeous.

HQ

Dreams
Dreams was originally revealed back in 2013, and it's been a long and arduous journey for the Little Big Planet devs Media Molecule, but now it appears Dreams is starting to find its final form. It's difficult to describe what the game is apart from it being a creative canvas, but check out the trailer for a better idea.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds
The most played game of 2017, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, finally showed off the new desert map that will launch later this month. The new map shows off its new vehicles, the ability to mantle up to higher surfaces, and even a new gun, all set in a gorgeous looking desert.

HQ

Metro Exodus
We got a new look at the newest Metro title, Metro Exodus, and boy did it look good. A train is shown working, with the narration alluding to their being more people alive on the surface, so should make for an interesting campaign when the game launches autumn next year.

HQ

GTFO
Work together or die together is the tagline for this new survival co-op game, made by some of the key creatives behind the Payday game. Players can join with up to three friends to complete an objective/mission, whilst trying to survive as you're attacked by what looks like mutants. The trailer is pretty intense...

HQ

A Way Out
Reviving the couch co-op experience is A Way Out, and its trailer gave us a better look at some of the gameplay and scenarios that take place. Not only this, but the game will only need one copy to play co-op with a friend online, seeing as it is a co-op experience only. The trailer also features Josef "Fuck the Oscars" Fares, so you don't want to miss it.

HQ

Sea of Thieves
Rounding things off is the much-anticipated Sea of Thieves, which finally has a release date set in stone. The online multiplayer pirate game is set to launch for Xbox One on March 20th next year, looks to be in a great place from the in-game footage shown.
