RuneScape has a long and illustrious past, and it started fifteen years ago, with brothers Andrew, Paul, and Ian Gower unleashing the long-running MMORPG on the world. Now they're returning to the fold, and they're bringing a new quest with them.

The Gower Quest is a new free-to-play mission that has players investigating the mysterious disappearance of cabbages on behalf of "three familiar looking cabbage mages." There's going to be new rewards, and a new sword forged in the name of the cabbage god, Brassica Prime.

According to the press release the new content is going to be "packed with nods and winks to vintage RuneScape memes and jokes" it what's described as "a fond love letter from the game's creators."

"Bringing back the three brothers to help design a celebratory quest was simply fantastic, and we're already seeing players contact us saying how nostalgic and wonderful Gower Quest is for them," said lead designer David Osborne.

"We're grateful to Andrew, Paul, and Ian for returning to RuneScape for one more occasion and being guest designers on the quest. Fifteen years is a phenomenal milestone to reach, so few MMORPGs have ever reached it, and fewer still while experiencing a resurgence in player numbers!"
