In the build-up to its announcement, we had the chance to chat with Fatshark CEO Martin Wahlund about Warhammer: Vermintide 2, and got some interesting new details on an updated loot system.

When asked about the loot system, Wahlund explained how "in the first game you would pick up stuff and you would do stuff in the levels that affects the loot you would get. What we want to do is, depending on what you do, you get more predictable quality of loot in the end, and it's much more customised to the career you're playing."

Wahlund went on to say, "Then, of course, there's the random element when you open it because it could be a few different things, but it's much more attuned to your level and to your character, so it's more predictable in that sense."

So, what does this mean for Vermintide 2? The career path system is intertwined with the loot you will receive, so will give players career and character-specific loot. Not only this, but will be fundamental in the player's progression, as the loot will also be level specific.

Vermintide 2 is set for an "early 2018" release, but there has been no confirmation of a date just yet, and no details on whether the PC version will launch before it heads to console, except for them aiming for a close launch.
