Two of the most noteworthy features Nintendo Switch owners have been longing for since the console launched in March are being able to record gameplay and transferring data to other units, but now these wishes have been fulfilled...to some degree.

Nintendo has released update 4.0.0 for the Nintendo Switch, and it's definitely not just "improving the stability". First of all, we can now record gameplay by holding down the "Capture" button. Sounds great, doesn't it? Well, the feature has a few glaring shortcomings compared to the other consoles' similar features, as we'll only be able to capture the last thirty seconds of gameplay and the feature doesn't work with every game. In fact, it's only supported in four games right now: Arms, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The captured videos will be saved in the Album section and can then be trimmed and shared on Facebook and Twitter. You can see how it works in the video at the bottom of this piece.

The other major aspect of the update is the ability to transfer your data to another Switch. Unfortunately, this might not work exactly like you hoped either, as it can't be used to backup your files. The transfer will be permanent, which means that the transferred Nintendo account won't be available on the source console anymore after doing it. You can learn more about how to perform the transfer right here.

Some of the other goodies included in the update are 12 new profile icons from Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, being able to pre-purchase certain games from the eShop, and a few other changes.

How do you feel about the update? Are you disappointed with any of it?
