Last month, we reported that thousands of cheaters in Fortnite were being banned by Epic, who also later decided to sue the worst offenders, and now it turns out that one of the people being sued is a 14-year-old cheater, whose mother now has responded via an open letter that you can read here.

It seems like Epic didn't know who they were suing as there seem to be a few grand mistakes made. One of them is that it is against Delaware law to publish names on minors, and that he is unlikely to be the developer/distributor of the cheating tools because of his age. She also points out that she never gave consent for her son, which is required in Fortnite's terms.

Epic has replied to all this via Kotaku, writing:

"This particular lawsuit arose as a result of the defendant filing a DMCA counterclaim to a takedown notice on a YouTube video that exposed and promoted Fortnite Battle Royale cheats and exploits. Under these circumstances, the law requires that we file suit or drop the claim."

"Epic is not ok with ongoing cheating or copyright infringement from anyone at any age. As stated previously, we take cheating seriously, and we'll pursue all available options to make sure our games are fun, fair, and competitive for players."
