During a recent Kobolds & Catacombs preview event in London, we had the chance to sit down with both senior game designer Peter Whalen and lead art director Ben Thompson and ask them a few questions about the expansion and the game in general.

One of the topics we touched on was that of a tournament mode; a long-awaited addition to the Hearthstone client, one that the community has continuously requested and pleaded with Blizzard to introduce, but we're still yet to see make its way to the game. We asked the developers about it, and here's what they had to say:

"We've got teams that work on both things," Whalen explained to us. "There's a Features team that works on additions to the client, additions to ease of use, all of that stuff. There's Content teams as well, the Final Design and Initial Design teams work on our set releases, expansion releases. There's an Engineering team that supports the Content teams, both on new content and fixing old bugs and supporting those features."

"Not at this point," Thompson chimed in. "Certainly it's something that we know the community has talked about in the past, and it's something that certainly sounds like it would make a great addition to a game like Hearthstone, but it's also one that's going to make for a lot of challenges to implement just right and do the right thing. So at this point, we're looking into what that would mean and just talking more about that behind the scenes."

Whalen went on to explain that it's something the Systems team would work on, along with any improvements to ranked/ladder play and general quality of life improvements for the game. How do you think Blizzard should improve the Hearthstone client?
