Niantic has released a worldwide update for Pokémon Go that adds more Generation 3 Pokémon, having already introduced a limited number of pokémon from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire's Hoenn region during the Halloween event. Now, though, there are 50 new creatures that can be caught, including the three starter pokémon from the games - Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip - as well as Swablu, Wailord, Salamence, Feebas, and more, which can be seen in the trailer below.

The update also adds a dynamic real-life weather system that's visible on the in-game map, as weather and climate conditions now affect were pokémon could appear. Niantic states that for example its more likely to see a Mudkip in the rain, a Cacnea when it's sunny, and a Snorunt in the snow, for example. Seasonal changes will also affect the Pokémon that will appear.

REVIEW. Written by Clover Harker

"It isn't without its flaws, but what's there is engaging, innovative, and most importantly, fun."
