Super Mario Run the most popular iOS game of 2017

RollerCoaster Tycoon and Minecraft are the most-downloaded paid games.

Apple has revealed their yearly list of most-downloaded and best games, and it turns out the most-downloaded free game on the iPhone and iPad was Nintendo's Super Mario Run. The most-downloaded paid game on iPhone, however, was RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic, with Minecraft taking the crown on iPad.

Apple also selected their own favourite games and picked Jonathan Blow's puzzle game The Witness as "Game of the Year" for the Mac. Splitter Critters, a game where you have to guide critters back to their spaceship, was chosen as the best iPhone game, and the hand-drawn miniature searching game Hidden Folks given the title of best iPad game.
