With Switch being launched and doubling as a handheld gaming device, one might imagine that the sales of Nintendo 3DS would take a hit, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Quite the opposite, actually. In an interview with Forbes, the president and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime, had the following to share:

"In the United States we're on track to actually sell more Nintendo 3DS systems this year than we did last year. That's incredible for a system that has been out in the marketplace and is enjoying its seventh holiday right now."

Nintendo has launched a couple of new titles for Nintendo 3DS during 2017 like Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadow of Valentia, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga DX, Pokémon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon and Metroid: Samus Returns. They have also launched an XL version of the Nintendo 2DS, so there have been things going on with the format.

Still, it is of course very impressive to still be able to increase sales like this, especially as the Switch itself is also selling ridiculous amounts. In a nutshell: these are really good times for Nintendo right now.
